My First Day at PPH

My first day at PPH was extremely interesting. The only downside is that, even though I was there 20 minutes early at the NY Hall of Science, NO ONE WAS THERE. Then, about 3-5 minutes before the Shadowship was supposed to start, I meet up with Winston. We then waited for about 10 minutes and we met up with Meredith, Anjum, another person from PPH (whose name I seem to have forgotten), and an intern at MOUSE (whose name I also forgot sorry D:). We then played an interesting icebreaking game in which we took out everything from our pockets and placed them on the table. We then all had to separate the things on the table into group (that we created ourselves), all at the same time. Because we were all playing in real time, we could interrupt our fellow players by taking things from their groups. Once we were done with that very creative (and fun!) game, we then went over the rules, which I found interesting, mainly because they all contradicted each other. We also planned out what we were going to do for the next few weeks. After that, we started to learn about the focus for our Shadowship, The 1939 and 1964 World’s Fairs. We were given a lot of background information about them, included how they were funded and the purposes of each one. Afterward, we took a tour of the NY Hall of Science, which is actually placed where BOTH fairs were, which is pretty awesome. We then went out to see the Unisphere, which is located right next to the museum in Flushing Meadows Park. All of you probably know what the Unisphere is, but you probably don’t know it by that name. It’s the big metal sphere of the globe in the park. The reason it was so important that we went there was because that sphere was the main symbol for the 1964 World’s Fair. We then went home, via the 7 train.
